Speakers Bureau

The South Carolina Bar operates a Speakers Bureau through which civic groups, churches, schools and other organizations can arrange for volunteer attorneys to speak to their groups on various legal issues. The Speakers Bureau is a FREE service connecting attorneys who enjoy public speaking with organizations seeking orators for various functions. Engagements can vary from lectures at the local rotary club to an introduction of the legal system for your local middle school to question-and-answer sessions with senior citizens' groups.

If you are interested in having a volunteer attorney speak to your group or for more information on the Speakers Bureau program, contact Elizabeth Martin at (803) 799-6653, ext. 155 or emartin@scbar.org. You may also complete the speaker request form and submit it to Elizabeth Martin via e-mail or fax to (803) 799-4118.

As an extension of this service, the Bar sponsors a segment on the "U Need To Know" radio program. On Mondays at 3:44 p.m., tune into WOIC 1230-AM or www.strnetwork.com to hear South Carolina attorneys discuss legal topics of interest to the public as well as learn about public services provided by the Bar. The Bar is committed to serving and educating the public about the law in order to create an atmosphere of communication, trust and understanding. The radio program is yet another resource offered to the public in pursuit of this goal.
