The Only Thing That Matters: Successful Leadership Today
Successful leadership requires the highest levels of communication. It is about finding, recognizing and implementing the best practices of law firm leaders in all aspects of their roles. Along with communication, relationships play a critical role in our success. Relationships at all levels need attention. To maximize the firm’s performance and positively impact the firm’s culture, we need to understand how to create an open and dynamic dialogue within our organizations, lead informed discussions that will allow us to make better decisions and help those we lead become leaders too.
We will address these issues with a combination of presentation and an interactive discussion. There will be opportunities to share some of our own best practices and communication strategies as we deal with the following constituencies:
* Other firm leaders
* The partners in your firm
* The associates in your firm
* The staff members who support you in every function
* The lawyers in other firms
* The community in which you work
* The profession in which you practice
* The clients who rely on your firm every day
Great leadership—how does it impact you personally? Does the concept of servant leadership and living and being the example resonate? Will so-called “soft skills” be rewarded in the current economic environment? Can you find work/life balance and real meaning in your work? How do law firms address the work/life balance challenge as organizations?
What is your scorecard for success? The size of your office? The number of people who work for you? How much money you make? The car you drive? Your home address? The number of people you have helped? Community contributions you have made? What really matters in leadership today?
