MEMBERSHIP PUBLICITY COMMITTEE
Members of this committee are responsible for getting young lawyers involved with the Division and introducing new members of the Bar to the Division. The committee will also reach out on a larger scale to identify young lawyers not previously involved in the YLD or the Bar. Informational packets/committee sign-up brochures will be distributed to law students during Bridge the Gap (BTG), and a brief presentation on YLD opportunities will be made during BTG. The committee will coordinate with the YLD circuit representatives to implement two events in their areas--one family event and one members-only event. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
This committee will host programs for young lawyers on how to become a rainmaker in your firm; starting your own law firm; balancing your personal life and your professional life; public speaking; and improving your skills as a young lawyer. The committee will continue to collaborate with the S.C. Association of Certified Public Accountants and pursue joint programs with financial advisors, medical residents and student body groups. Further, this committee will coordinate with circuit representatives to implement statewide lunch and learn programs.

This committee will also implement the YLD Leadership Academy. This is a highly selective program designed to train the next generation of Bar and community leaders. Thirteen young lawyers will meet once a month for six months. Each month's program will focus on different topics including Lawyers and the Judiciary, Lawyers and the Legislature, Professionalism, Rainmaking, Pro Bono and Community Service and Bar Service. Participants must attend at least five out of the six sessions in order to stay in the program. It is anticipated that participants will receive two CLE credit hours for each session they attend. Participants must be practicing law for three to seven years and have taken at least some active role in YLD governance such as actively serving on a committee or as a circuit representative or officer. As a key component of the Academy, each participant will be matched with a senior lawyer mentor in the same geographic region and legal career path.
