Casemaker/Member Login

Welcome to Casemaker, a library of legal research materials for South Carolina and other states. There is no charge for active South Carolina Bar members to use this newest membership benefit. The library includes state and federal case law, the South Carolina Code of Laws, ethics advisory opinions, court rules, published and unpublished court opinions, past South Carolina Lawyer articles, a searchable index and more! For research assistance, call Casemaker toll free at 1-877-659-0801 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Login to Casemaker and Members-Only Section

Important Casemaker login information. Your login ID is now your Bar number, not your email address. Your password is unchanged. If you have forgotten your password, try using the system default, which is your first initial and last name, plus suffix (if you have one). For example, the default password for George Jones, Jr. would be: gjonesjr (without spaces or any punctuation). Be sure to use lowercase letters only.

If you have requested a password and have not received it there are two possible reasons. First, the e-mail address we have on file at SC Bar is incorrect or second, you have a spam filter that is catching mail from our server.

Instructions on how to use the library are available in the following formats:

Smartphone Users
If you need to look up a statute or a case and you aren’t near a computer, use your smartphone! If you have an iPhone, BlackBerry or Android-based smartphone, direct your phone’s browser to http://mobile.lawriter.net. You will need to complete the quick one-time registration by making up a username and password and selecting South Carolina as your default jurisdiction. You may use your Bar ID and password for regular Casemaker, but you must register it in the mobile version first.

If you still have questions on using Casemaker, or would like to set up a training presentation by Bar staff, contact Practice Management Counsel Courtney Kennaday at (803) 799-6653, ext. 183 or pmap@scbar.org.
