This program will cover the range of practical tax, estate planning and easement issues that surround owning, operating and transferring a vacation home or other distinctive family-owned property. The integration of income tax planning with estate and trust planning will be discussed, including what happens when well-laid plans must be unwound when the property is sold due to economic distress. The program will discuss practical techniques for keeping the property in the family for multiple generations while minimizing intra-family conflict over usage and financial issues. Also, the program will cover the use of conservation easements to protect distinctive family property, including distinctive farm or ranchland.
