About the Seminar
The South Carolina Bar-CLE Division is proud to present our 2009 Master-in-Equity Bench Bar seminar.  This program is a Mandatory JCLE for South Carolina ’s Masters-in-Equity, and has been approved for 6.0 Bankrutpcy/Debtor-Creditor Specialization credit hours.

Judge Marvin Dukes has put together an exciting program featuring a talented and experienced faculty who will cover some of the hottest issues in Equity Court today.  For instance, did you know that one in five new homes in South Carolina is a mobile home?  John Kay will cover tax sales of real property with an emphasis on issues related to tax sales of mobile homes.

John Nichols will bring you up to speed on legislative developments pertinent to Masters and those who  practice in Equity Court.  Paul de Holczer follows with a powerful look at eminent domain and condemnation issues.  No program in this economy would be complete without a treatment of foreclosures, so Sue Berkowitz, Pete Korn, and Betsy Burn will all bring their experience to bear on this important area.  You’ll get insightful, practical information on defenses to foreclosure, post foreclosure and bankruptcy issues.

As always, we are proud to feature a presentation by Charleston School of Law Professor Steve Spitz.  This year, Professor Spitz will discuss water rights as they relate to both individual litigants and government entities.  Tom Mikell will share practical keys to Quiet Title Actions, and Stuart Mauney will cover some vital information for lawyers and Masters about the SC Bar’s H.E.L.P. Task Force and it’s work.

Rounding out our day will be a panel of attorneys from the Supreme Court’s office of Disciplinary Counsel, as well as Anderson County Master in Equity, Ellis Drew who will discuss common questions lawyers have about judicial ethics.  If you practice in Equity Court in South Carolina be prepared for an amazing, enlightening, and entertaining day of CLE!
