Mr. Blattmachr will cover topics including: portability of the unified credit (as proposed by Congress) and the supercharged credit shelter trust; grantor trusts; decanting trusts to change provisions for tax and other reasons; adventures in GST exemption allocation; and using Alaska’s community property law to get a full step-up in asset basis at the death of the first spouse. Mr. Blattmachr also intends to address and discuss any new tax law passed before the workshop. In addition, nationally known expert and specialist in estate planning, trusts and estates, and wealth transfer taxation from Emory University Professor Jeff Pennell, will present “Ethical Considerations for the Estate Planner” Friday during the networking lunch and on Saturday.
