About the Seminar
How many contracts, agreements and memoranda of understanding are crossing your desk without proper review? Gary Pope and Belton Ziegler who have many years of experience in public law will present information that will help you negotiate and execute better contracts. They will help you protect your client from unwanted language, unnecessary requirements, and cumbersome and unintended obligations.
This year’s seminar will also take a look into landfills. Well not really, so leave your protest signs and protective gear at home! Experienced environmental law attorney Tommy Lavender will share his unique perspective on local, state and federal environmental concerns, as well as discuss regulatory requirements for landfills.
After lunch, the seminar will turn to economic issues and how these impact local government. Thomas Martin, one of the best in the business, will share some powerful insights into something we all want - economic development! He will help you learn how to protect your local government while planning for the future. Next up is an issue rising to the forefront for local government: delinquent taxes. With a slumping economy, budgets have been slashed around the state, so every dollar collected becomes more important. Mistakes in delinquent tax sales can be costly, so Charles Watson will help you learn how to avoid them. The seminar will wrap up with a look by Tim Winslow at the after-effects on local government as a result of actions on the state level. Have your questions ready for our distinguished faculty as this seminar is designed to be informal and interactive!
The Government Law Section is again providing a networking lunch as a vital part of this practical seminar.
