Annual Bar Convention Committee
Promotes YLD’s involvement with the S.C. Bar Convention by planning, organizing and implementing a CLE program and networking event. The CLE component will offer a program that is of interest to young lawyers and provide at least three CLE credit hours for attendees. The attendance incentive event will be a social gathering for members of the YLD and their guests. Its purpose is to increase young lawyer participation at the Convention and in Bar/YLD activities. Additionally, the committee will be responsible for planning and organizing a meeting of the YLD Executive Council, committee chairs and co-chairs.

Courthouse Keys Committee
This committee is responsible for coordinating breakfasts, lunches and other events to allow small groups of young lawyers an opportunity to meet and interact with members of the judiciary. The judges will be asked to provide insight on their paths to the bench and advice for young lawyers.

BLSA Symposium & Career Fair Committee
In conjunction with the Black Law Student Association, this committee will provide South Carolina students with resources, support, guidance and practical expectations associated with the practice of law by planning and implementing a symposium and career fair. While targeted to minority students, all students are welcome to attend the BLSA Symposium and Career Fair, which will include panel discussions on diversity issues in the legal field and ways in which diversity can be increased. The Career Fair will be held in conjunction with the Symposium, and law firms and other potential employers will be invited to participate for the purpose of hiring summer law clerks.

The Color of Justice Committee
Co-sponsored by the National Association of Women Judges, the purpose of this committee is to introduce the field of law to middle and high school minority students during a one-day symposium. The program includes a panel discussion and breakout sessions with judges, attorneys, law professors and law students.

Membership Events Committee
Responsible for getting young lawyers involved with the Young Lawyers Division and introducing new members of the South Carolina Bar to the Division, this committee will identify young lawyers not previously involved in the YLD  and encourage them to become involved. In addition to coordinating member networking events and new admittee receptions throughout the state, committee members may be asked to attend Bridge the Gap and other programs to represent the YLD and distribute informational packets and committee sign-up brochures to law students and new lawyers in South Carolina.

Professional Development Committee
This committee hosts programs to help young lawyers become successful by partnering with other young professional organizations, including the Young Bankers Division, S.C. Association of Certified Public Accountants and National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors of S.C., on events and CLEs throughout the state. This committee will plan several events that focus on issues relevant to young professionals and facilitate networking opportunities for young lawyers with other young professionals.

Publications & Marketing Committee
Members of this committee prepare and update YLD publications and work closely with the Bar to promote and market YLD events and service projects. In addition, this committee is responsible for collecting and editing articles for the Division’s newsletter, South Carolina Young Lawyer, which is distributed quarterly. This newsletter is one of the YLD’s award-winning projects and contains committee reports, upcoming events, member spotlights, practical tips and other items of interest to young lawyers.
