July 11, 2013
COLUMBIA, S.C. (July 12, 2013)—The S.C. Bar Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Division won a Best of the Association for Continuing Legal Education (ACLEA) Professional Excellence Award for its program, Whipping up Some Justice: Chili, Cornbread and the Unforgiving Minute with Jim Blackburn. The award will be presented in August at the ACLEA 2013 Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Md.
The seminar, part of the CLE on-demand cooking series, brought together retired Family Court Judge Leslie Riddle, guest chef Jim Blackburn and Lee Coggiola of the Office of Disciplinary Counsel to first ‘whip up’ chili and cornbread and later discuss the warning signs and solutions of mental health issues affecting South Carolina attorneys.
“I am humbled by this award and am really proud of our staff and star, Leslie Riddle,” said Terry Burnett, CLE director for the S.C. Bar. “We are always looking for new ways to deliver great CLE to Bar members and if we can combine a creative and fun approach with meaningful content, all the better.”
The Whipping Up Some Justice series, developed by Hon. Leslie Riddle and S.C. Bar Media Services Manager Warren Holland, was first released in the fall of 2012. Since then, Bar members have enjoyed learning how to make delicious meals, all while taking part in a substantive CLE discussion. For more information on the S.C.
