Implementation on the new health care law, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), is well underway in 2014 and will have a major impact on the benefits companies offer their employees.  There is a myth that the new law only effects large employers.  In fact, it impacts employers of every size, imposing new costs and compliance obligations, and impacting the benefits smaller and mid-tier companies currently offer their employees. About the Speaker 

Alson R. Martin is a partner in the Overland Park, Kansas office of Lathrop and Gage, LLP, where he has a national practice focusing on business law, taxation, health care, and retirement plans.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel.  Mr. Martin is the author of "2014 Healthcare Reform Facts" (2nd ed. 2014), a pratical question-and-answer format book published by the The National Underwriter Company.  He is the president and a director of the Small Business Council of America.  Mr. Martin received his B.A., with highest distintion, from the University of Kansas, and his J.D. and LL.M from New York University School of Law.
